An older Palmetto Cash 5 article can look plausible while describing a purchase the current game no longer offers. South Carolina replaced the former Power-Up arrangement with included multipliers, changed the entry price and uses a five-from-42 selection pool. Remembering that you once paid an extra dollar for a feature is not enough to explain a new ticket.
Current Palmetto Cash 5 costs $2 per play and includes a randomly assigned multiplier of 2X, 3X, 5X or 10X for eligible non-jackpot prizes. The jackpot is excluded from that multiplication. The useful task is to identify the current rule version, count the main matches and read the multiplier attached to the actual play.
The current line uses five distinct numbers through forty-two
For example, 5, 14, 23, 32, 42 is valid. The values form one unordered combination, so writing them in reverse does not create another entry. There is no selected bonus ball to add alongside them.
The printed multiplier is not a sixth winning number and does not need to be excluded from the main selections. If a play shows 5X and one selected main number is 5, those two appearances have unrelated roles: one is a payment instruction and the other is a value to compare with the draw.
Our Palmetto Cash 5 selector can suggest the five main values. It does not predict the multiplier, choose a more favorable one or issue a paid ticket.
Reference base prizes are not the final multiplied amounts
The official chart lists reference bases of $300 for four matches, $5 for three and $1 for two. The current game's actual eligible prizes apply the multiplier printed for the play. Reading only the reference column leaves the calculation unfinished.
Suppose the example line matches four main numbers and its multiplier is 5X. The worked amount is $300 times five, or $1,500, subject to the official payment rules. Three matches with 3X gives $15, while two matches with 2X gives $2.
That last example is a prize but also equals the $2 cost of one play. If a ticket contains several paid entries with no other returns, a $2 result does not recover the whole purchase. Record the total spent and total returned rather than treating the reference to a winner as a complete profit calculation.
Do not multiply a five-match jackpot
Matching all five main values belongs to the jackpot category. A 10X printed on that play does not make the advertised jackpot ten times larger. The current rules specifically leave jackpot prizes outside multiplier multiplication.
This is one reason an archived Power-Up explanation is especially risky for a new purchase. A historical chart can describe an older top-prize arrangement accurately while being the wrong chart for today's ticket.
For a ticket from an earlier rule period, identify its drawing date and use the corresponding official historical rules. For a new entry, use the current game page and current rule document. The date is not a cosmetic detail when the purchase structure has changed.
The odds depend on which outcome you are counting
Five selections from 42 produce 850,668 unordered combinations. One fixed line has a one-in-850,668 chance of matching all five. The printed multiplier does not change that main-drawing combination count.
The operator also publishes odds for specific multiplied lower-prize outcomes. Those combine the chance of a match category with the chance of the particular multiplier, so their denominators differ from the odds of the match category alone.
That is not a reason to mix the columns. “Four main matches” and “four main matches on a play assigned 10X” describe different events. Read the category label and multiplier together before quoting a probability or deciding two figures disagree.
Similar included-multiplier games still need their own charts
Colorado Lotto+ also includes a multiplier, but its available multiplier values, main format and optional drawing differ. New Jersey Pick-6 has another distinct included-multiplier arrangement. Neither supplies a payment table for a Palmetto ticket.
Even a familiar 3X should remain attached to the correct play and game. If two lines on one ticket have different multipliers, calculate each qualifying result with its own value rather than assigning the largest printed multiplier to everything.
The current rules also state that using Play It Again generates new multipliers for the new plays. Replaying the same main numbers is therefore not a promise to reproduce an earlier multiplier you liked.
Check the complete play before and after the drawing
Before paying, confirm the selected numbers, requested dates, number of plays and total cost. Afterward, keep the main match count and multiplier together when using the current chart. The operator qualifies payments for certain liability circumstances, so a worked example is not a replacement for official validation.
The South Carolina directory separates Palmetto Cash 5 from Pick 3, Pick 4, CASH POP and the shared games. It also links to the current operator information for schedules and prize details.
For this game, an accurate check starts by setting an old memory aside long enough to read the new ticket. Identify the right rule period, count the five main values, apply the eligible multiplier and leave the jackpot category to its own rules.
