A basic Pennsylvania Cash 5 with Quick Cash purchase can produce two pieces of paper. One represents your evening drawing entry; the other holds the included instant game. If you collect only the first ticket from the counter or machine, you may leave part of your paid purchase behind.
Quick Cash is included in the $2 price, rather than an optional extra you must remember to request. It is also checked separately from the evening game. Keeping the two documents together until you identify them is the easiest way to avoid losing track of either chance.
Know what one $2 play contains
For the main Cash 5 drawing, choose five different numbers from 1 through 43 or use Quick Pick. Each $2 play includes one main-game entry and one Quick Cash game.
The main ticket prints first. The corresponding Quick Cash games follow on separate paper, with up to five Quick Cash games on one ticket. More selections or drawing dates can therefore produce a different number of pieces of paper than you expected from the number of plays you requested.
For example, two selections for three drawings cost $12 and provide six Quick Cash games. Under the published printing arrangement, those six instant games need two Quick Cash tickets, in addition to the main-game ticket. Count the games you received, not merely the sheets in your hand.
Quick Cash uses its own printed comparison
For each Quick Cash game, compare YOUR NUMBERS with the WINNING NUMBERS in that same game. A matching number wins the prize shown for that game. Do not compare the instant numbers with the evening's drawn Cash 5 result.
Each printed instant game is separate. A value appearing as YOUR NUMBER in one game does not win because it matches a WINNING NUMBER in a neighboring game. Keep the game boundaries visible if several instant games share the same paper.
The available Quick Cash awards are $2 and $6. The result is resolved at purchase, so you do not have to wait for the evening draw to find out whether the instant portion won.
Redeem an instant prize while keeping the evening entry
Pennsylvania's FAQ says you may claim a Quick Cash win before the drawing and keep the original main Cash 5 ticket for the evening result. Identify which ticket you are handing over and which one still covers the draw.
A $2 instant prize on one $2 play recovers that purchase's basic price, with the evening entry still to be checked. On a $12 purchase, the same instant prize recovers only $2 of the total. Do not let receiving money back hide how much you originally paid.
If both portions win, record both actual awards. If the instant portion loses, you still have the main drawing to check. Neither outcome predicts the other, and neither is a reason to throw away the remaining document early.
The evening game has its own prize ladder
The main draw pays $2 for two matches, $10 for three, $200 for four and a jackpot share for five. Its lower tiers are set awards, rather than amounts recalculated from sales and winner counts in every ordinary drawing. The jackpot is divided among qualifying winning plays if more than one wins.
Suppose you selected 6, 15, 24, 32 and 43, and the evening drawing is 6, 15, 24, 35 and 42. That is a three-match $10 main-game result. It does not matter whether your Quick Cash ticket contained any of those values; the instant game has already used its own printed comparison.
The main-game jackpot chance for one selection is 1 in 962,598. Quick Cash's separate overall prize odds do not replace that figure. They describe a different part of the purchase and a different prize range.
Watch the earlier sales deadline
The nightly main drawing is at 6:59 p.m., while sales close at 6:57 p.m., Pennsylvania local time. Buying before the show starts is therefore not enough if you have already missed the sales cutoff.
Up to seven consecutive drawings can be purchased in advance. Calculate selections multiplied by drawings multiplied by $2 before paying, and confirm that the associated instant games printed. The extra Quick Cash games are available at purchase, rather than being new sheets that appear at home on each future drawing date.
For a group purchase, agree on who holds the main ticket and who checks the instant tickets before separating the papers. A photo can help everyone understand the entries, but preserve the originals needed for validation.
The two claim clocks start on different dates
A main Cash 5 prize must be claimed within one year of the drawing date. A Quick Cash prize must be claimed within one year of the purchase date. On an advance-play purchase, those starting dates can differ, so do not file every prize under the last date shown on the main ticket.
Use the official ticket-checking or retailer process for potential wins, and retain active main-game entries until all covered drawings have finished. The Pennsylvania lottery directory compares other local formats. For this one, remember what the purchase gives you: a main drawing ticket and separate instant games, each with its own checking instructions.
