Mississippi Cash 4: Two Pairs Make Six Orders, Not Twelve

Classify Cash 4 repeated digits correctly, compare a six-way Any Order ticket with a six-dollar Combo, and verify the complete price before adding Fireball or more draws.

Before asking what a Mississippi Cash 4 ticket pays, count what repeats. A selection with two pairs belongs to a different category from one with a single pair, even though both may look like “a number with doubles.” Choosing the wrong row can produce both an incorrect price expectation and an incorrect prize expectation.

Here is a way to classify the ticket without memorizing the lottery’s sample numbers. Start by grouping equal digits, then count distinct arrangements rather than positions on the page.

Two pairs have a six-order checklist

Use 3377 as an illustrative selection. Its distinct orders are 3377, 3737, 3773, 7337, 7373 and 7733. There are six. Swapping the two identical threes does not create a seventh outcome because the printed sequence stays unchanged.

A result of 7373 contains the required two threes and two sevens. A result of 7333 does not: that has three threes and one seven. Merely seeing both selected digit values in a result is not enough.

Cash 4 uses four digits from 0 through 9, allowing repeats. Preserve leading zeroes when copying a selection or result. They occupy positions just as the other digits do.

Separate the other repeated-digit patterns

Three identical digits and one different digit, such as 3337, produce four orders. One pair plus two other distinct digits, such as 3379, produces twelve. Four different digits, such as 1379, produce twenty-four.

These are counts of different ordered outcomes, not claims about special numbers being favored. A particular Straight sequence remains one possible ordered result, whatever its pattern.

A practical check for 3379 is to place the identical threes in two of the four positions. There are six choices for their positions; the 7 and 9 can fill the remaining places in two orders. Six times two gives twelve. For 3377, the remaining sevens are identical, so there is no second ordering to multiply by two.

Any Order and Combo use different purchase units

For the two-pair pattern, a $1 six-way Any Order purchase pays $800 when a qualifying order occurs. Its fifty-cent version pays $400. A six-way Combo costs $6, purchasing six $1 Exact Order entries, and its qualifying base award is $5,000.

Return to the hypothetical 3377 selection with a result of 7373. The $1 Any Order ticket qualifies for $800; the $6 Combo qualifies for $5,000. Those are different purchases, not inconsistent payments for the same contract.

The Combo does not win six $5,000 awards from that single ordinary result. Only one ordered sequence was drawn. Nor should the $5,000 award be described as the payout on a one-dollar six-way Any Order entry.

The mixed option has its own exact-result total

Cash 4 also offers $1 Exact or Any Order. For a two-pair selection, its exact-result base award is $2,900; another qualifying order pays $400. The exact total already includes its applicable components.

For example, mixed-order 3377 matched to 3377 qualifies for the $2,900 total. Mixed-order 3377 matched to 7373 qualifies for $400. Adding another $400 to the first figure would count the Any portion twice.

This is why a ticket-checking conversation needs more than the four digits. Ask for the printed wager style and amount before comparing any dollar figure. Two people who chose identical numbers may have bought different coverage.

Build the total from arrangements, events and extras

Combo prices are $4, $6, $12 or $24 for the four-, six-, twelve- and twenty-four-way patterns respectively. Fireball doubles the purchase and applies across the used panels. It has its own prize chart rather than simply doubling every base award.

For a cost illustration, one six-way Combo costs $6 per event. Purchasing it for both a Midday and an Evening event costs $12; adding Fireball to both makes $24. Changing the selection to four different digits makes the corresponding two-event, Fireball purchase $96: $24 × 2 × 2.

These are budget comparisons, not recommendations. More paid outcomes and events increase the amount at risk. Set the total you are prepared to lose before requesting the transaction.

Verify the issued events before checking prizes

Cash 4 holds two daily drawings; the instructions identify 2:30 p.m. Midday and 9:30 p.m. Evening. The later result-availability times on the page describe publication, not a guarantee of when purchases close.

Multi-Draw supports up to seven consecutive drawings. Inspect the dates, sessions, digits, style, price and Fireball selection on the actual ticket. Keep entries that still have pending purchased events, and use Mississippi Lottery’s certified results and official validation for any claim.

The Mississippi game directory helps compare formats. For Cash 4, keep the six written orders of a two-pair example in mind: they explain the category more reliably than the loose word “doubles.”
