Michigan Lotto 47: Double Play and EZmatch Are Two Different Extras

Understand Lotto 47's six-number entry, the separate Double Play drawing and instant EZmatch option, with examples that keep the checks and purchase costs distinct.

Lotto 47 can put several different checks on the same purchase, but the word extra is not precise enough to describe them. Double Play buys entry into a separate drawing, while EZmatch is an instant feature. Asking for one does not mean you have bought the other, and a result from one part cannot fill a gap in another.

The base Michigan game costs $1 per play and uses six different numbers from 1 through 47. Optional Double Play costs another $1 per play, and optional EZmatch is another $1 per game. Before looking at any possible prize, identify which of those purchases appears on the ticket.

The ordinary line contains six main numbers

A valid example is 4, 13, 22, 31, 40, 47. There is no separate selected bonus ball, and the order within the set does not matter. You need six distinct values in the pool, rather than a string whose positions must match the drawing order.

The Michigan Lotto 47 selector supplies a valid random main line. It cannot predict the separate Double Play result or create the instant section printed by the operator, and it does not purchase an official ticket.

Check the actual issued line before leaving the retailer. A saved screenshot of the numbers you intended to play is not a replacement for the ticket's game, drawing coverage and selected options.

Double Play checks the same selections against another result

When purchased, Double Play uses the Lotto 47 selections in a second drawing with its own prizes, including a top prize of up to $1.5 million. That is not a second entry into the growing main-game jackpot using another main-game result.

Imagine the line above matches four main-draw numbers and three Double Play numbers. You have one four-match main check and a separate three-match Double Play check. Adding them to make seven would not identify any prize, because the matches belong to different results.

The same separation applies if one part loses. Missing the main jackpot does not decide the optional drawing's outcome. Check both purchased entries against their own official results and prize information.

EZmatch has an instant result rather than a later drawing

EZmatch supplies a separate instant feature at purchase. Follow its printed instructions and corresponding prize information instead of comparing that section with whichever main-draw numbers have most recently appeared online.

For example, a matching value in an instant section does not mean the same number has been drawn for Lotto 47. It establishes only the instant comparison specified by that feature. The main result remains a future or separate event to check.

If an instant prize is redeemed while a draw entry remains outstanding, follow the operator's instructions for preserving that entry and keep the resulting ticket or record. The purpose is to retain what you already bought, rather than assume cashing one part settles every possible outcome on the paper.

Calculate the whole purchase before adding features

For one play in one drawing, the base entry is $1. Adding either of the separately priced features increases the purchase, and selecting both makes the simple one-play example $3. Several plays or drawing dates require checking the full printed total rather than repeating the phrase “another dollar” without counting it.

The extra features buy different products. Their existence does not establish that both should be added or that an existing base ticket becomes inadequate without them. Decide what you intended to spend first, then confirm the options actually requested.

A useful comparison is New Jersey Pick-6, where an included multiplier and an optional Double Play drawing have a different price structure. Similar feature names are not evidence that every operator bundles them the same way.

Six from forty-seven has 10,737,573 combinations

That is the number of unordered six-number sets available in the main pool. One fixed line has a one-in-10,737,573 chance of matching all six in the main drawing. A pattern that feels unusually balanced or long overdue is still one combination in that same count.

Adding a second drawing does not make the main drawing more likely to select the line. It introduces another result with another prize arrangement. Keep the event being measured beside the odds whenever comparing optional features.

Nor can a near miss be carried forward. Five familiar values in one result and the sixth in a later result do not combine into a six-match claim. Each drawing stands on its own.

Main jackpot headlines and payment choices are separate facts

Michigan describes a growing main jackpot starting at $1 million. Its October 2026 report of a $6.79 million winner also distinguishes the advertised figure from the lump-sum amount that winner chose. That is a useful illustration of why a headline is not automatically an immediate cash payment.

Use the current operator's prize and payment instructions for an actual claim. The guide's job is to help identify which game component and match category you have, not to select a financial option for a potential future winner.

The Michigan directory keeps Lotto 47 separate from Fantasy 5, the Daily games and national drawings. For this ticket, make three clearly labeled checks where applicable: the base result, the purchased Double Play result and the instant feature. The labels matter as much as the numbers.
