Double Play sounds like it might double whatever your Michigan Fantasy 5 ticket wins in the main drawing. Its actual job is different: it enters your selected numbers into a second drawing, which has its own winning numbers and prize schedule.

That means a main-game loser can still have a Double Play prize, and a main-game win does not automatically pay twice as much. If you purchased the option, you have another result to check before putting the ticket away.

Decide how many parts you are buying

The basic Fantasy 5 entry costs $1. Select five different numbers from 1 through 39 or use Easy Pick. Double Play adds $1 per panel per draw. For one selection in one drawing, the basic game with Double Play therefore costs $2.

EZmatch is a separate optional instant feature, offering prizes up to $500. For that same single selection and single drawing, choosing both optional features brings the purchase to $3. Confirm the total printed by the retailer, particularly for larger purchases where the charging units and ticket arrangement matter.

The official game page lists Double Play as an in-store option. Do not assume an online main-game entry includes it just because Double Play numbers appear on the results page. Check the options actually attached to the accepted entry you bought.

Compare the same selection with two different results

Imagine you selected 2, 11, 20, 28 and 39. The regular drawing is 2, 11, 20, 31 and 38. That gives you three main-game matches, normally worth $10.

Now imagine the Double Play drawing is 2, 7, 20, 28 and 39. Your same selected set matches four of that second result, normally worth $200 under the Double Play schedule. If your ticket purchased Double Play, those separate results produce $210 in prizes in this example.

You do not take the regular drawing's $10 and automatically make it $20. You also do not combine three matches in the first result with four in the second. Each result is checked independently against the original five-number selection.

Use the prize table belonging to the drawing

For the regular drawing, two matches pay $1, three pay $10, four pay $100 and five qualify for the rolling jackpot, which starts at $100,000.

The Double Play table lists $2 for two matches, $20 for three, $200 for four and a $110,000 top prize. The official page includes sharing provisions for the top awards, including when more than two people win the Double Play top tier, so do not assume an unlimited number of winners would each receive a full headline amount.

A result screenshot needs the drawing label as well as the date. If someone says four matches paid $200 while your four-match result paid $100, the first question is whether you are comparing Double Play with the regular drawing.

EZmatch does not wait for either drawing

If you purchased EZmatch, compare its printed numbers with your selected Fantasy 5 numbers and follow the associated prize amounts. That is an instant check, rather than another scheduled draw or a multiplier applied to either draw prize.

A useful ticket routine has separate boxes in your notes: EZmatch checked, regular drawing checked, Double Play checked if purchased. An unsuccessful instant check does not tell you what will happen in either drawing.

Keep the ticket until every purchased part has been checked and any potential prizes have been validated. A paper ticket with several features should not be discarded because the first result you looked at was a loss.

The cutoff is earlier than the nightly show

Fantasy 5 draws daily at 7:29 p.m. Michigan local time. The official purchase cutoff for the current drawing is 7:08 p.m. A last-minute plan based only on the show time leaves a twenty-one-minute gap in which you may already be too late.

Check the printed drawing date after any purchase near that time. If buying several dates, read the full range and calculate the total before paying. Adding Double Play across dates increases the purchase by another dollar per panel for each drawing included.

Repeated dates create separate entries into separate results. They do not carry forward the matches your numbers collected previously.

Keep the extra chance in perspective

One selection has a 1 in 575,757 chance of matching all five in a particular Fantasy 5 drawing. Purchasing Double Play gives the selection another eligible drawing with its own result. It does not make a particular combination more likely in the regular draw.

Choose between additional selections and optional features according to a spending limit you set first. A label promising another chance can make adding a dollar feel minor, but the full amount is still money committed before any result is known.

For comparisons with other Michigan games, use the Michigan lottery directory. When you return to this ticket, keep the labels visible: regular, Double Play and EZmatch each answers a different prize question.
