An Indiana CA$H 5 win can leave you with another ticket to check rather than cash to put away. Two matching numbers award a free Quick Pick entry, while redeeming an EZmatch instant win before the drawing produces an exchange ticket carrying the original selected numbers.

Those are different situations, and keeping the right piece of paper matters in both. The first creates a new entry. The second preserves an entry you already bought. Here is how to follow the purchase from choosing numbers to checking everything that remains active.

Start with the issued entry, not the saved playslip

A basic CA$H 5 play costs $1 and uses five different numbers from 1 through 45. Choose your numbers or request Quick Pick. There is no separate bonus ball to select.

For example, 7, 18, 26, 37 and 45 is a valid set. The order does not affect the match count. A result containing those same five values is a complete match however the balls appeared during the drawing.

You can prepare a paper playslip or use the lottery app to build a digital one. Either records the requested selection; preparing it is not the same as completing a purchase. Verify the issued ticket’s game name, numbers and date rather than relying on the selection saved on your phone.

Count the matches before deciding what the prize is

The published standard chart gives $15 for three matches, $200 for four and the jackpot category for five. Two matches award a free CA$H 5 ticket, specifically Quick Pick. The operator notes that prize levels can be paid on a pari-mutuel basis in certain circumstances, so final validation and the official rules govern an actual amount.

Suppose the winning numbers are 7, 18, 26, 34 and 42. Against the sample selection, you matched three: 7, 18 and 26. The standard chart places that result in the $15 category. The 37 and 45 do not receive partial credit for being close to anything drawn.

If the result instead is 7, 18, 26, 37 and 42, the sample play has four matches and the standard category is $200. That is one four-match result, not a four-match award plus a collection of smaller awards for the same play.

A two-match free ticket is a new entry

If only 7 and 18 match, the applicable category is a free Quick Pick ticket. It is not a $1 cash refund, and it does not promise that your original chosen numbers will be repeated.

Read the new ticket when it is issued. Record its selected numbers and covered drawing rather than checking your old favorite set again out of habit. Keep the new entry with other tickets still awaiting results, not with purchases you have already finished checking.

This distinction also matters when tracking spending. A free entry is a prize with another outcome ahead of it. Counting it as cash in hand would blur the difference between money returned and another chance to play.

The operator publishes overall drawing-prize odds of approximately 1 in 11. That includes this free-ticket outcome. It is not the chance of receiving a cash award or making a profit on the entire purchase.

An EZmatch exchange ticket preserves the original selection

EZmatch is optional and costs another $1 per play. Its printed numbers are compared with the selected CA$H 5 numbers on the ticket. A matching instant number wins the corresponding printed amount; the nightly drawing does not decide that instant result.

Suppose the instant section contains 26 beside a prize amount and 26 is in your purchased selection. Follow the operator’s instructions to check and redeem that instant result. Do not wait for 26 to appear in the drawing, and do not add the instant numbers to the later drawing’s winning set.

Hoosier Lottery explains that the clerk issues an exchange ticket with the same selected numbers after an instant redemption. Check that ticket before leaving, because the drawing entry still needs its later result. Unlike the two-match free Quick Pick, this is preserving the selection already purchased.

An instant loss does not cancel the drawing entry either. Keep the ticket whether or not the instant section wins, and confirm the remaining dates if the purchase covers several drawings.

The sales cutoff comes before the drawing

CA$H 5 drawings occur daily around 11 p.m. Eastern. The current official page lists a 10:39 p.m. Eastern purchase cutoff. Do not assume a drawing scheduled around eleven means tickets can be bought until eleven.

When purchasing near closing time, confirm the date on the issued ticket. Finding that the numbers matched a drawing you were not entered in is not a claim against that result.

Multi-Draw can cover up to 28 consecutive drawings. Check how many dates you are buying and calculate the whole transaction before adding several plays or optional features. Keep a record of checked dates so an early redemption does not cause a later paid entry to be forgotten.

Keep Indiana’s rules attached to Indiana’s name

There are 1,221,759 possible five-number sets from 45, giving one specific selection five-match odds of 1 in 1,221,759 per drawing. A personally chosen valid set and a valid Quick Pick have the same matching probability.

A Cash 5 guide from another state can describe a different pool, different awards or an additional drawing that Indiana’s ticket does not include. North Carolina Cash 5, for example, has its own Double Play option and separate rules. A familiar name is not enough to transfer a feature across state lines.

Use the Indiana directory to identify the right local product. For CA$H 5, the useful final check is simple: what did this result award, did another ticket get issued, and does any entry still await a drawing? That keeps a small win from becoming the reason an unfinished ticket is misplaced.
