Connecticut Play4: Split Pair Means the Two Outside Digits

Map Play4 Front, Back and Split Pair correctly, avoid confusing Split with a middle-pair wager, and compare coverage with a four-digit Straight entry.

In Connecticut Play4, Split Pair is the first and last digit. It does not mean the two middle digits. If you have used a Middle Pair option in another state, that distinction deserves a deliberate pause before buying.

A pair wager is a positional purchase. You are choosing which two places must match, with the remaining places unrestricted. Getting the right two symbols in the wrong positions does not satisfy it.

Draw four boxes around the result

Use the hypothetical result 6831. Its Front Pair is 68, its Back Pair is 31 and its Split Pair is 61, formed by the two outside positions. The middle digits 83 are not that Split Pair.

For Split Pair on 61, a result of 6001 qualifies, as does 6791. Both start with six and end with one. A result of 0619 does not meet the condition merely because six and one sit next to each other inside it.

Writing a pattern such as 6XX1 is useful. Each X means an unrestricted digit in that position. It is not a bonus number you must predict, and it does not move the selected endpoints around the result.

Pair coverage is broader than one complete result

There are 100 possible values for the two unrestricted middle positions in 6XX1, from 00 through 99. The pair condition therefore covers 100 of the 10,000 full ordered four-digit results.

That gives a specified base pair wager a 1 in 100 matching chance. The published base payment is $25 at 50 cents or $50 at $1. Those amounts belong to Front, Back or Split Pair, with the correct positions checked.

This is not a four-digit Straight prize divided according to how many digits matched. Pair is a separate wager with a separate condition and payment. It must be purchased before the drawing.

A Straight ticket has no automatic pair fallback

Straight on 6831 requires exactly 6831. A result of 6839 fails the Straight condition, despite matching the first three positions. It would satisfy a purchased Front Pair on 68, but that does not mean your Straight-only entry pays that prize.

Similarly, a result of 6001 meets Split Pair 61 while failing Straight on 6831. Decide whether you want that endpoint coverage before buying, rather than treating every partially matching result as an opportunity to choose a new wager.

Connecticut's regular Straight chart pays $5,000 on a $1 wager and $25,000 on $5. Both require the same full ordered result, with a 1 in 10,000 chance. A larger stake does not turn unmatched middle digits into acceptable ones.

Box checks all four digits in another way

Box accepts the distinct arrangements of a complete four-digit selection. For four different digits, there are twenty-four arrangements. Repetition reduces that count: one pair gives twelve, two pairs give six, and three identical digits give four.

That is different from leaving the middle of a Split Pair unrestricted. A Box selection on 6831 still needs six, eight, three and one in some qualifying order. Split Pair 61 can qualify without either eight or three appearing.

Straight/Box and Combo are further purchase choices, with their own costs and payments. The safest comparison begins by stating the full winning condition in words, before deciding whether a larger-looking payment is relevant to your ticket.

Do not import a base payment into Wild Ball

Wild Ball doubles the ticket cost and creates replacement combinations using one drawn digit at a time. Use the separate add-on chart if a replacement produces the qualifying pair.

For a hypothetical Split Pair ticket on 61, start by checking whether the unchanged result begins with six and ends with one. Then, if Wild Ball was purchased, examine the permitted replacements under its rules. Do not edit both ends at once to manufacture a match.

Keep the base and add-on checks separate. A $1 base pair payment is not automatically the amount for a replacement pair result, and the doubled total purchase is not evidence that all base payments have doubled too.

Confirm the session and the issued purchase

Day drawings are at 1:57 p.m. Eastern and Night drawings at 10:29 p.m. Sales close earlier, at 1:45 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. Read those labels and dates on the issued purchase before comparing digits.

At retail, review the wager promptly. Connecticut distinguishes retailer-terminal tickets from online and vending-machine purchases in its cancellation rules; do not assume every purchase can be undone in the same way.

Use official ticket checking or account records for validation and follow the current claim instructions. For other available games, see the Connecticut directory. For Play4 Split Pair, keep one compact picture in mind: selected digit, two unrestricted positions, selected digit.
