If you have played a three-digit game elsewhere, Connecticut's Play3 chart may look almost familiar. The qualifying patterns are recognizable, but some prize amounts differ. A $1 six-way Box pays $83 here, rather than the $80 you may remember from another state.
That is enough of a difference to make memory an unreliable ticket checker. Start with Connecticut's chart, the actual wager and the pattern in your selected digits.
Identify the arrangement group first
Play3 uses three digits from 0 through 9. Straight requires their exact order. Box accepts the distinct orders of the chosen digits, with separate categories for three different digits and two identical digits.
For 058, the six orders are 058, 085, 508, 580, 805 and 850. For 005, the three orders are 005, 050 and 500. The repeated zero does not become a different symbol when you swap it with the other zero.
Those two groups use different prize rows. Reading the first Box amount you recognize is not enough; you need the row describing your selection's repetitions.
Keep the cents in the calculation
The published six-way Box prize is $41.50 for a 50-cent wager or $83 for $1. The three-way Box amounts are $83.50 and $167 respectively.
For a $1 six-way Box on 058, a result of 580 qualifies for $83 in the base game. For a $1 three-way Box on 005, a result of 500 qualifies for $167. Neither comparison depends on which arrangement you happen to prefer after buying Box.
Do not round the 50-cent-wager prize to a more familiar amount. The fifty cents in $41.50 is part of the listed payment. A rough memory may be close enough for conversation, but not for explaining what an issued ticket pays.
Straight/Box divides the amount
Connecticut's Straight/Box combines equal Straight and Box portions. At a $1 total base wager, half goes to each. A six-way selection therefore has $250 attached to its 50-cent Straight part and $41.50 attached to its 50-cent Box part.
If the exact selected order hits, those two components total $291.50. Another qualifying arrangement pays the Box portion, $41.50. The published three-way equivalents are $333.50 for exact order or $83.50 for another qualifying arrangement.
These are combined exact-order payments. Do not add another Box payment to $291.50 or $333.50; it is already included. Also avoid substituting a full-dollar Straight payment into a ticket whose Straight component was only half a dollar.
Pair purchases check positions instead
Front Pair checks the first two digits, Back Pair the last two, and Split Pair the first and last. With a draw of 058, those conditions are 05 at the front, 58 at the back and 08 across the ends.
A Split Pair wager on 08 can qualify on 028 or 098 because its middle position is unrestricted. That is different from Box, which still needs the complete chosen three-digit set.
The current base chart lists $50 for a winning $1 pair wager. Matching a pair on a Straight-only ticket does not create that purchase afterward. Read the play type before interpreting a partial match as a payment.
Wild Ball has its own payment schedule
Adding Wild Ball doubles the total ticket cost. The drawn Wild Ball can replace one official drawn digit to create additional combinations, but your selected digits remain fixed.
The $83 and $291.50 examples above describe base-game payments. A result qualifying through Wild Ball uses its separate chart. Do not assume that doubling the purchase price doubles every prize shown in the base table.
A useful checking note has separate lines for the ordinary result and any replacement result. That keeps a possible base win from being confused with a possible add-on win, particularly when repeated digits produce several similar-looking comparisons.
Check the correct Connecticut session
Play3 has Day and Night drawings at 1:57 p.m. and 10:29 p.m. Eastern, with sales cutoffs of 1:45 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. respectively. Check the session printed, rather than assuming the next result you see belongs to your ticket.
Advance Action is available for the listed future drawing coverage. Work out the complete price before repeating several wagers: two $1 base entries in seven selected drawings cost $14, or $28 if Wild Ball doubles each entry.
Use official validation for a potential winner and keep the issued ticket or official online record secure. The Connecticut directory helps compare games, but this Play3 calculation belongs to Connecticut alone. Similar digits and familiar wager names do not make another state's payout chart interchangeable.
