Optional features

Íslensk Getspá offers system entries and subscriptions. Systems buy multiple combinations: coverage and price rise together, while each line keeps the same odds.

How the jackpot rolls over

If nobody wins first prize (6 + Viking number), its pool rolls to the next Wednesday draw under the international rules. Second prize and national lower tiers have separate allocations.

How shared jackpots work

First and second prize pools are divided among winning lines across participating countries. Icelandic lower tiers use national allocations, so amounts can differ abroad.

Regional differences

Viking Lotto is played in Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia and Belgium. First and second prizes are international; lower tiers, price, tax and claims are national. Iceland includes a specifically Icelandic third-prize pool.

Results and claiming

Check winning numbers and Icelandic payouts on lotto.is. Íslensk Getspá validates Icelandic tickets and its recorded result controls.

In Iceland, authorized retailers may pay up to 25,000 ISK. Online or subscription prizes below 200,000 ISK are credited automatically; the operator contacts larger winners. Prizes above 5 million ISK are paid after four weeks, and claims expire after one year.

Responsible play

Lottery play is paid entertainment with a likely loss. Set a fixed limit, never chase losses, never borrow to play, and stop if it causes stress or financial harm. A generated line is no more likely to win than a personally chosen valid line.

Frequently asked questions

Can a number generator predict Viking Lotto results?

No. It creates a valid random line; it cannot predict an independent draw or improve the chance of any combination.

Are Quick Picks better than personal numbers?

No. Every valid line has the same mathematical probability, however it was selected.

Does buying more lines improve the odds?

Distinct extra lines increase total coverage in direct proportion to the extra cost, but each line keeps the same odds and the chance remains very small.

What happens when several tickets win?

The jackpot pool is divided among all valid jackpot-winning tickets under the official rules.

Are Viking Lotto and Víkingalottó the same?

Yes. Víkingalottó is the Icelandic name for the multinational game marketed locally as Vikinglotto.

What is the Viking number?

It is one number from 1–5. Six main numbers plus the Viking number win first prize; six main numbers without it win second.

What is the Icelandic price?

One line costs 115 ISK through Íslensk Getspá.

When is the draw and sales deadline in Iceland?

The Wednesday draw is at 18:00 in winter and 17:00 in summer. Sales close one hour earlier: 17:00 in winter and 16:00 during European summer time.

How do I buy in Iceland?

Adults can use authorized retailers, lotto.is, the official Lottó app or an official subscription. This site does not sell tickets.

How are Icelandic prizes claimed?

Retailers may pay up to 25,000 ISK. Online or subscription prizes below 200,000 ISK are credited automatically; larger winners are contacted.

How long is the claim period?

One year. Prizes above 5 million ISK are paid after four weeks under the operator’s rules.

Why do payouts differ by country?

International top pools are shared, while lower tiers, prices, taxes and claim processes are national.
