Nebraska MyDaY: A Valid Calendar Date Comes Before a Lucky Date

Choose valid MyDaY dates, understand leap-day restrictions and match the month, day and two-digit year as separate prize components with worked examples.

A meaningful date is an easy way to choose MyDaY numbers, but not every six-digit sequence is a valid entry. Nebraska uses a calendar format, so month and day must form a real date, and February 29 has an additional rule tied to the two-digit year.

That makes this game different from simply choosing six digits or entering a birthday without checking its format. The first useful check is whether the date can be accepted. The next is which calendar components match the drawing.

Enter the month, day and year in their own fields

A MyDaY play costs $1. Select a month from 01 through 12 and a day from 01 through 31, subject to the actual month's length. Select the year's final two digits separately, each from 0 through 9. Quick Pick is available if you prefer not to choose a date.

For example, July 18 with year digits 64 is entered as 07/18/64. It is not an entry for the 18th month, and the order is not interchangeable merely because someone elsewhere writes dates day-first.

Do not add a century to the wager. The game's year component is two digits. A note saying 1964 can help you remember a personal date, but the ticket's relevant year field is 64.

Test a leap-day selection before buying

Dates such as 04/31 and 02/30 are rejected because the calendar has no such day. For February 29, Nebraska permits the date only with a year divisible by four, including 00.

That means 02/29/24 is acceptable under the published rule, while 02/29/25 is not. The game explicitly includes 00 in the permitted leap-day years, so use its stated two-digit-year rule rather than trying to insert an assumed century into the calculation.

If a personal anniversary cannot be entered as you first wrote it, take time to choose another valid selection or decide not to buy. Do not rush into a replacement simply because a line of people is forming behind you. A rejected request is not evidence of a number being lucky or unlucky.

Match components rather than individual digits

Suppose the result is 08/21/64. A selection of 08/17/64 matches Month + Year and qualifies for $52. It does not partially match the day because 17 shares a digit with some other value on the ticket.

A selection of 03/21/64 matches Day + Year and qualifies for $365. Those two examples both match two calendar components, yet their awards differ because the components are different.

A selection of 08/21/09 matches Month + Day and qualifies for $12. Matching the last two year digits requires that complete two-digit component, in order, rather than finding either digit somewhere in another field.

Read the full prize combination

The published chart lists $5,000 for Month + Day + Year; $365 for Day + Year; $52 for Month + Year; and $12 for Month + Day. Single-component categories pay $7 for Year, $4 for Day and $1 for Month.

Use the category corresponding to the result as a whole. If all three components match, do not add the single-component and two-component amounts on top of the $5,000 category. Likewise, a Month + Year result should be identified by that combined category rather than reported as two unrelated wins.

The official top-prize odds are 1 in 36,525. The calendar restrictions are part of that format, so treating all month, day and year fields as independent unrestricted choices would misdescribe the game.

A sold-out date is a sales limit

Nebraska limits the liability attached to a particular MyDaY combination. Once additional wagers would reach the limit for a drawing, the system stops accepting that combination and asks the player to choose another.

That message concerns the number of entries already sold and potential prize payments. It does not reveal which date will be drawn. Another customer's enthusiasm for a birthday is not information about the upcoming result.

If a combination is unavailable, keep to the spending limit you intended. Buying several replacements to compensate for the rejected date does not restore a missed advantage, because the rejection did not identify an advantage in the first place.

Put the drawing date beside the date you selected

Your selected MyDaY calendar date is not the same thing as the date of the drawing you entered. A ticket can show 08/21/64 as the chosen combination while participating in an October drawing. Keep those two roles separate when recording results.

The game draws daily. Read the actual entry dates and purchase total, especially for multiple-draw play, and have a possible prize validated using the original ticket. A saved personal date or playslip does not establish that a purchase was completed.

For other Nebraska formats, visit the Nebraska lottery directory. With MyDaY, a clear record has three parts: the valid calendar combination you selected, the drawing dates you paid for, and the complete component pattern that matched.
