A North 5 ticket covering several drawings can still contain only one set of EZ Match numbers. That is intentional. Minnesota sells the daily drawing entries across the date range, while the optional instant feature applies to the first draw date printed on that ticket.
This matters both to the price and to what you should expect to check. Paying for fourteen daily drawings does not automatically buy fourteen new instant-game results. The official FAQ even gives a fourteen-draw purchase with one EZ Match addition as a $15 ticket, rather than $28.
Separate the daily selection from the instant set
North 5's main game costs $1 per play. Choose five different numbers from 1 through 34, or use Quick Pick. The daily drawing awards prizes for two, three, four or five matches. There is no separate selected bonus ball.
EZ Match is optional and adds $1 per play. The terminal prints five unique instant numbers with associated prizes. Compare those instant numbers with your selected North 5 numbers to see whether a corresponding prize is won.
The comparison uses the numbers you played, not the eventual daily drawing result. You can resolve the instant feature when the ticket prints. Your main selection still needs to be checked against the appropriate daily drawing afterward.
Read the advance-play price correctly
North 5 permits up to fourteen drawings on an advance ticket. If you buy one selection for seven dates and add EZ Match, the main entries cost $7 and the instant addition costs $1, for an $8 total.
The instant set is valid for the first printed draw date. It is not a fresh set of instant numbers for each of those seven dates. The remaining six dates continue to provide main-game entries, even after the first date's instant feature has been resolved.
For a budget comparison, $8 can buy that seven-date purchase with EZ Match, or eight basic $1 entries allocated to the drawings you choose. Those are different products. Decide whether you want additional main-game entries or an instant feature, rather than assuming an extra dollar strengthens all aspects of the ticket at once.
Check a possible instant prize without waiting for the draw
Imagine your main selection is 4, 12, 19, 27 and 34. If an EZ Match number is 12 and its associated prize is $5, that is the instant comparison that matters. The later winning numbers do not need to contain 12 for that printed instant match to qualify.
If an EZ Match number is 8, it does not match your selection simply because 8 later appears in the daily drawing. Mixing those two comparisons turns an instant game into a rule it does not have.
Minnesota lists instant awards from $2 to $500, but not every ticket shows every possible prize amount. A ticket without a printed $500 amount has not lost access to the main-game jackpot; these are separate parts of the purchase.
Collecting an instant win should preserve the active draws
You do not have to wait until the main drawing to redeem an EZ Match prize. Minnesota says a retailer will print a trailer ticket for subsequent drawings still active, without additional EZ Match numbers.
Before leaving, read that replacement: it should preserve the remaining main-game selection and coverage. Do not expect a new instant chance to appear merely because a replacement ticket printed.
Keep the trailer with your active tickets and record which dates still need checking. If you photograph the original, use the image to help compare details, while retaining the official document needed for validation. Redeeming the instant portion is not the same as completing the entire date range.
The main-game prizes follow their own result
Two main matches pay $1, three pay $5, four pay $50, and five qualify for the cash jackpot. The jackpot minimum is $25,000 and the prize is shared equally if multiple tickets qualify.
For the selection above, a drawing of 4, 12, 19, 30 and 33 gives three matches and a $5 main-game prize. Whether the ticket's EZ Match portion won or lost does not change that count.
One main selection has a 1 in 278,256 chance of matching all five. The overall main-game prize odds, about 1 in 6.83, include the small awards. Neither figure promises that spending $8 produces an $8 return, particularly when the purchase includes different types of entries.
Review the first date and the last date
At purchase, check the numbers, total, EZ Match choice and date range. A North 5 ticket with EZ Match cannot be canceled. If you ask for several main plays with EZ Match, Minnesota says separate tickets print, each with its own instant set; collect all of them.
For a wider comparison, use the Minnesota lottery directory. The reliable North 5 routine is to check the instant set once, check each purchased daily drawing, and keep any trailer ticket that carries the dates still outstanding.
