Kentucky Cash Ball 225: Four Main Numbers, a Separate Ball and an EZmatch Trap

A practical Cash Ball 225 guide covering its two pools, the correct way to check the Cash Ball and why EZmatch numbers must stay in their assigned sections.

Cash Ball 225 does not ask for five ordinary numbers, despite there being five selected values on a complete line. Four belong to the main pool and one is a separately chosen Cash Ball. That distinction continues into the optional EZmatch feature, where the printed Cash Ball entry cannot simply be mixed into a general pile of matching values.

The base play costs $1 and uses four different main numbers from 1 through 35 plus one Cash Ball from 1 through 25. The game advertises a $225,000 top prize. Understanding the two fields is the useful first step, because a familiar number in the wrong field can look like a match without satisfying the relevant condition.

A repeated value can be valid across the two fields

Take main numbers 6, 15, 24, 35 with Cash Ball 15. The main selections are distinct, and the separate Cash Ball is inside its own allowed range. Having 15 in both fields is permitted because the two appearances have different roles.

You could not instead put 35 in the Cash Ball field just because it is valid as a main number. Nor would two main copies of 15 make a proper four-number main set. The correct restriction applies within each pool, rather than across the entire printed line.

Our Kentucky Cash Ball 225 selector follows those two ranges. A valid random selection is a convenience for filling a slip, not a prediction of either the main result or an instant feature.

Read main matches and Cash Ball matches separately

Imagine your ticket has the example above, while the winning main set is 6, 15, 24, 32 and the drawn Cash Ball is 9. You have three main matches and a missed Cash Ball. Seeing 15 among the drawn main values does not satisfy the separate Cash Ball selection of 15.

If the drawn Cash Ball were 15 instead, the result would become three main matches plus Cash Ball. Use that exact category on the operator's chart, rather than describing the ticket vaguely as having four numbers.

Main order does not matter. The role of the Cash Ball does. A quick handwritten check can preserve both facts by recording a main-match count and a separate yes or no for the Cash Ball before looking at any dollar figures.

The complete top-match probability uses two calculations

There are 52,360 ways to choose four different main numbers from 35. Each set can be paired with any of 25 Cash Ball values, giving 1,309,000 complete selections. One fixed line has a one-in-1,309,000 chance of matching the full main-and-Cash-Ball result.

That figure concerns the complete match, not any smaller prize category. It also does not tell you that a line becomes more likely because its numbers have not appeared recently. Every valid complete selection occupies one place in the same possible-result count.

Texas Two Step is an informative comparison because it also asks for four main numbers and a selected ball, but its second pool extends to 35. The similar shape of the ticket does not make the combination counts interchangeable.

EZmatch keeps its Cash Ball entry separate too

The optional instant feature costs another $1. Under the official rules, four printed EZmatch numbers are compared with the ticket's four selected main numbers, while the EZmatch Cash Ball, marked CB, is compared with the ticket's selected Cash Ball.

Suppose an ordinary EZmatch entry is 15 and your main set includes 15. That is the relevant ordinary-number comparison. If an EZmatch CB entry is 24 while only your main set contains 24 and your selected Cash Ball is 15, that appearance of 24 does not make the CB entry a winner.

This is a subtle difference from treating all five printed instant values as interchangeable. Keep the CB label visible, identify the appropriate matching entry and use its corresponding instant prize amount. The result is determined at purchase rather than by waiting for the nightly draw.

An instant result does not settle the later drawing

You can have an instant check and a draw check on the same purchase. A losing instant section does not cancel the base entry; a winning one does not establish that the later drawing will match anything.

The rules describe an exchange ticket when an instant prize is claimed before the outstanding drawing. Keep the replacement and verify that the original selections and remaining drawing coverage are preserved. The practical issue is not choosing new numbers at that moment, but retaining proof of the entry still waiting for its result.

Louisiana Easy 5 also has an instant add-on, yet it does not use Kentucky's same four-main-plus-Cash-Ball selection structure. Compare the general distinction between instant and drawn outcomes without borrowing the other game's matching instructions.

The useful ticket check begins before payment

Confirm the exact game, selected fields, drawing coverage and whether EZmatch was included. Several dates or plays can change the total purchase substantially even when the base price sounds small. Decide the whole amount before the ticket is issued.

After the result, evaluate each play independently and use the current official chart for its main and Cash Ball category. Do not move a match from another row or another date to complete a stronger line.

The Kentucky lottery directory keeps Cash Ball 225 separate from Pick 3, Pick 4, CASH POP and national drawings. For this game, the habit worth keeping is simple: preserve the field labels, even when the same number appears several times on the paper.
