Arkansas Cash 4: Four Identical Digits Can Only Be Straight

Understand why Cash 4 quadruples have no box coverage, count valid repeated-digit arrangements, and price Combo entries before multiplying drawings.

Try rearranging 7777. Every shuffle still reads 7777. That simple observation explains an Arkansas Cash 4 rule that can surprise a new player: four identical digits can only be played Straight.

Box coverage depends on distinct orders. It cannot create extra outcomes when all four symbols are the same. Once you see that boundary, the other repeated-digit patterns become easier to count and price.

Give each position its full value

Cash 4 uses four digits from 0 through 9. Repetition is allowed, as are leading zeroes. A Straight entry on 0078 requires exactly 0078, not 0780 or 7800.

One specified ordered result has a 1 in 10,000 chance. Arkansas's published Straight prizes are $2,500 for a 50-cent wager and $5,000 for $1. Selecting four identical digits does not change the exact-order probability.

The quadruple may look more memorable than 0078, but both are individual ordered outcomes. Visual neatness is not a different probability category for Straight.

Why a quadruple has no box alternative

With 7777, exchanging the first and fourth digits produces no new result. Neither does exchanging any other pair. There is only one distinct displayed arrangement.

Arkansas's rules therefore restrict a four-identical-digit selection to Straight. Do not assume a Box request on a quadruple buys several hidden ways to win. There are no additional orders for that selection to cover.

This also prevents a misleading comparison with ordinary Box entries. You cannot borrow the coverage of a four-way pattern just because the ticket contains four digits. “Four-way” describes four different possible orders, not simply four printed positions.

Count the pattern before choosing coverage

Three identical digits and one different digit, such as 7772, have four orders. The different digit can occupy each of the four positions. Two pairs, such as 7722, have six orders.

One pair with two other different digits, such as 7724, has twelve orders. Four different digits, such as 0724, have twenty-four. Replacing one digit can therefore move a selection into a different Box category without changing its four-position length.

For 7722, writing all six orders once is a useful check: 7722, 7272, 7227, 2772, 2727 and 2277. Count unique displayed results, not imaginary swaps between identical sevens or identical twos.

Box and Combo use those counts differently

Box uses the pattern's any-order prize schedule. At a $1 wager, Arkansas lists $1,200 for four-way Box, $800 for six-way, $400 for twelve-way and $200 for twenty-four-way.

Combo instead purchases a Straight wager on every distinct order. At $1 per order, those four patterns cost $4, $6, $12 and $24 respectively. A qualifying order wins the $5,000 Straight prize at that component amount.

That payment does not arrive once for every order purchased. In one drawing, the official result is one ordered outcome. The corresponding Straight component wins; the other purchased orders fail. Comparing Combo with Box requires comparing total price as well as the qualifying payment.

A split-dollar ticket is a third choice

A $1 Straight/Box entry divides the dollar equally between Straight and Box. For a six-way selection, the published exact-order payment is $2,900, while another qualifying arrangement pays $400.

Use those combined amounts for that purchase. Do not add the full-dollar $5,000 Straight amount and full-dollar $800 Box amount to a ticket that only placed 50 cents on each side.

Before extending a selection across drawings, settle the play type. One $24 Combo across ten drawings costs $240. A $1 Box across ten drawings costs $10. Both may refer to the same four different digits, but they are substantially different spending decisions.

Keep the Sunday schedule in view

Midday drawings occur approximately 12:59 p.m. Monday through Saturday, while evening drawings occur approximately 6:59 p.m. every day, Arkansas time. Sales stop four minutes before each drawing. Sunday has an evening drawing but no midday drawing.

Read the first and last covered sessions on an advance ticket, and keep it while drawings remain. If an early prize is claimed, ensure you receive the reissued ticket recording the remaining coverage.

The listed claim period is 180 days. Use official validation and retain the original ticket securely. For other Arkansas formats, the state directory provides the game choices; within Cash 4, the first useful calculation is simply how many different orders your digits can actually make.
